Programme Highlight:
Join us for an insightful seminar featuring the first Hong Kong project to receive the Award of Engineering Excellence in the 2025 ASHRAE Society Technology Award. The ASHRAE Technology Awards recognize outstanding achievements in innovative building design focusing on occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy conservation, adhering to ASHRAE standards for effective energy management.

This project utilized cutting-edge AI solutions to enhance energy efficiency while improving the overall occupant experience at ELEMENT, operated by MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC). Since its operation began in 2007, ELEMENT covers an area of over one million square feet. A data-driven approach was implemented to forecast building profiles and adjust system operations, achieving a 9% reduction in operational carbon equivalent to approximately 390 tons of CO2 annually.

Speakers:
Mr. Ethan Poon
With combined local and international experience in contractors, consultant firms, and MTR, Ethan has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in planning, budgeting, design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Throughout his career, he has successfully overseen significant infrastructure developments and projects, taking charge at various stages, and managing different engineering activities throughout the entire project life cycle. Ethan's contributions extend beyond traditional project management, as he has implemented innovative solutions and actively engaged stakeholders, liaised with government authorities, and implemented corporate strategies such as ESG initiatives. Regardless of whether he is involved in engineering or real estate business, Ethan has consistently demonstrated effective management skills both as a designer and a client.

Mr. Felix Chan
Mr Felix Chan is an associate in the Climate and Sustainability Group. He is specialized in sustainable & low carbon design and has participated in various Grade A commercial projects in the APEX region. Felix is also an energy and carbon expert. He has been involved in portfolio carbon and energy management for major property owners/ developers in Hong Kong to develop corporate decarbonization target and roadmap.
