Introduction
Hong Kong is packed with high-rise buildings, in which the lifts are essential vertical transportation facilities for numerous end users. Whereas lifts have been increasingly designed and constructed with high quality standards, quality lift maintenance work is indispensable for ensuring comfort and safety of the users. To establish a standard set of key performance indicators (KPIs) for lift maintenance services, a PolyU-BSOMES joint research project has commenced. The project’s Principal Investigator, Dr Joseph Lai, will share in this seminar the works carried out and the findings obtained so far, including the applicable performance indicators found from literautre, categorizations and derivaions of the indicators, and results of a focus group study on the practicality of the indicators. In addition to presenting the indicators shortlisted from the focus group study, the forthcoming works to be conducted for completing the establishment of the envisaged lift maintenance KPIs will be outlined.
