The annual Joint Symposium organized by HKIE Building Services Division (HKIE BSD), CIBSE HK Branch, ASHRAE HK Chapter and Department of Building Environment & Energy Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, proved to be a resounding success on 22 November, 2023. The symposium centred around the theme “Shaping the Future: Trends and Insights for Tomorrow Technologies Development in Greater Bay Area”, a topic that has garnered significant attention in recent years. The event attracted a diverse audience of approximately 230 attendees from various disciplines, resulting in a full house and a vibrant atmosphere.
The symposium commenced with an enlightening opening addressed by Ms. Ruth Carter, Chief Executive Officer of CIBSE. The morning session featured five captivating presentation delivered by professionals representing institutions, industrials and academics. These presentation delved into famous topics such as Net Zero, multi-trade integrated mechanical, electrical and plumbing services (MiMEP) and Fire Safety. The speakers provided strategic insights, comprehensive overviews and future development prospects in these domains. The interactive question-and-answer session that followed allowed the engaged audience to actively participate and further explore the topics with the speakers.
Following a delightful lunch break, the afternoon session commenced with an equally intriguing lineup of presentations by the professionals. The topics covered an intensive range of fascinating subjects, including District Cooling System, Ventilation of Inpatient Wards, Autonomous Vehicle, Cooling Tower and Water Treatment. The professionals came from government, academics and industrial shared innovative methodologies aimed at fostering energy conservation and promoting advancements in public health. The audience, displaying a keen interest in the intricate details, eagerly engaged with the presenters, initiating stimulating discussions that further enriched the symposium.
The full-day symposium culminated with a closing speech delivered by Ir Keith Yue, Chairman of HKIE Building Services Division. With heartfelt gratitude, Ir Yue extended his appreciation on behalf of HKIE BSD to the distinguished guest speakers, dedicated organizing committees and helpers, and all enthusiastic participants who collectively contributed to the resounding success of the Joint Symposium.
